A Nike Christmas treat thanks to Harry Kane

Coping Through Football was delighted to receive a donation of Nike kit in December 2018 thanks to Harry Kane and his family. Harry, who is sponsored by Nike, grew up in Waltham Forest and played a lot of his football on London Playing Fields Foundation’s two playing fields in the borough – Peter May and Douglas Eyre Sports Centres. He has been a great supporter of the charity’s work over the last few years and officially opened the new 3G pitch at Peter May Sports Centre in 2016.

His mum, dad and brother popped into a Coping Through Football session last year at Fairlop Oak Playing Field and they were very impressed with the positive and inclusive atmosphere so were keen to experience the project once again.

This time Harry’s mum Kim and brother Charlie made a special visit to the project’s end of year tournament on 18th December to present a set of Nike football shirts and a signed photograph of Harry to project participants. Both were gratefully received, with Kim and Charlie receiving a huge round of applause.

The Nike package included branded T-shirts, socks and footballs. Those participants who had passed FA courses and had become FA coaches received a Nike tracksuit.

LPFF CEO Alex Welsh said: “This lovely gesture from Harry is so typical. He has never forgotten his roots and he is delighted that the Nike kit package has been put to such good use.”
